Magic realism is the title that together flutist Miguel Angel Villanueva and composer Eduardo Angulo gave this production that gathers the complete works for flute and orchestra by this extraordinary Mexican composer. Both concertos for flute and big orchestra were commissioned by and dedicated to Villanueva and the divertimento for three flutes, string orchestra and percussion, commissioned by and dedicated to Mexican flutist Marisa Canales. In a tonal language and an impressionistic atmosphere, Angulo fills our senses with images and sounds that send us to other dimensions of reality, to a magic reality that curiously enough got its name in our corner of the world.
